Over 300,000 Chinese dead. In just six weeks the Japanese had murdered over 300,000 people. The Japanese treated this mass genocide as one big game. They played "Killing Games" that were very gruesome acts of murder and genocide against the Chinese. Eventually, the Japanese had killing "competitions" among themselves to see who could kill the most Chinese and to boost the military morale. Captain Tanaka Gunkichi of the Japanese Imperial Army, killed over 300 Chinese single-handedly in one day. The Japanese did not take any prisoners, they just killed everyone. They killed in barbaric ways that treated the Chinese like they were less then human. The Nanjing massacre was so barbaric and gruesome, that the killings have been compared those of Attila and the Huns. They would suspend people by ropes or chains and light large fires beneath them, therefore burning them alive. they would put gasoline soaked cotton in the women's vagina's and light the cotton on fire. They would bury the Chinese alive by the hundreds. The Japanese soldiers would tie the Chinese hands behind their back, and march them straight into the Yangtze River until they drowned to death. If they did not walk, they would be shot by high-caliber machine guns. They would herd them up in old abandoned buildings and close off the doors and light the buildings on fire. The Japanese Forces would raid the refugee camps that were established and kill everyone inside it. They would gather thousands of Chinese and walk them into the middle of a forest, then set the forest ablaze, burning them all alive. There were many, many more sick and gruesome ways that the Japanese killed the people of Nanjing. A statement from a survivor said that when the Japanese soldiers made them cross the river, they crossed by walking on a bridge of dead bodies. he said that the Yangtze river was red with blood.
